Today we read the story Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. It's really good, the kids enjoyed it, and it's part of our preparation for writing our own mystery stories.
We talked about space travel today, and the failed promise of the Space Shuttle program to usher in an era of affordable re-useable spacecraft. With the retirement of the shuttle program, no craft was able to take it's place. The recent successful landing of the Space X Falcon rocket on a floating landing pad in the ocean offers a lot of promise that reusable spacecraft are once again becoming a possibility. We watched the video of the landing, it really is exciting (if you're a super space nerd) and the class cheered when the craft landed. Space Tourism here we come.
