Monday

Happy Monday.

Math
There are few classes I've taught that work as hard in math as this one. I'm pretty impressed, they get down to work and stick with it. Great work all! (The problem for the kids is that I've seen how hard they can work, so now I'm going to expect it all year!)

Math Today - Variables (ex. 5a=b  If a=2, then b has to be 10)

English
More reading from Leinengen vs. The Ants

Taxes and the role government plays. We're spending time on this as part of our overall discussions on the upcoming election. The reading from today is posted to the right. Students were asked their opinion on how best to spend tax money in the areas of education, health, prisons, environment, military.

Computer Lab/Media Literacy
We launched our first project today. Students are creating an animation. The assignment is posted to the right.

History
War of 1812
We began our series of lectures today, the class was very engaged and attentive. It really is a treat to teach a class like this.
We'll spend a few months on this, as part of our larger talks on how North America came to be the way it is.
